Emerald specializes in producing highly technical and highly engineered printed circuit board assemblies and Electro-Mechanical Box Build projects to the final pack-out level. Working with our experienced customer success team, Emerald EMS supports box build and systems test capabilities at all Emerald locations.
Emerald’s Mechanical Assembly Department has a wide range of experience in customizing Box Build assemblies according to your specific project requirements, providing detailed and secure work instructions to ensure that we meet your quality standards every time.
Emerald’s Box Build capabilities range from simple projects requiring the placement of a PCBA inside a plastic box to technically complex products requiring multiple cable arrangements, specific torque requirements, and metal enclosures. Operating from lean workstations organized by product type, our technicians are equipped with the appropriate tools and resources to assemble the most challenging product configurations.
Our dedicated New Product Introduction (NPI) facility in Salem, New Hampshire, offers our customers a wide array of added-value services, including walk-in and express services for those last-minute modifications and needed rework. We also support an array of in- and out-of-warranty rework and repair services at all Emerald facilities.
Emerald’s Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Team is equipped with the most advanced manufacturing tools available.
Emerald’s Surface Mount Technology Team will react quickly to changing customer requirements while still delivering an exceptional quality product. Each line shares the same process flow, equipment and programming software, giving us ultimate flexibility when scheduling your product’s assembly.
Emerald EMS offers our customers the option of Through-Hole Technology (THT) for PCB Assembly manufacturing, an alternative mounting scheme for electronic components that uses pins inserted into holes and drilled in printed boards and soldered to pads on the opposite side.
Through-hole assembly produces strong mechanical bonds compared to Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and can be more costly due to additional drilling required. Through-hole technology is primarily used for bulkier components that require additional mounting strength and durability.
Our New Product Introduction (NPI) operation also uses THT technology in our Prototyping and Rapid Prototyping projects for ease of handling, insertion and soldering.

Emerald EMS offers mixed technology PCB assembly, combining the properties and advantages of surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole technology (THT) to optimize product quality and cost-efficiency.
Using mixed technology PCB assembly, Emerald has the capability to manufacture single-sided, double-sided or multi-layer circuit boards.

Certified AS9100D and IS09001:2015 quality management system, meeting the rigorous risk management and production standards of the aerospace industry.
Enforced by the Department of State, ITAR is a set of regulations controlling the export and import of defense-related materials. It restricts access to information for the design and building of sensitive military and intelligence technologies. We regularly assemble products with ITAR requirements.
